A tidy caravan can still have mechanical or electrical faults. Total Mobile Mechanical Services provides independent pre-purchase checks at our Calliope workshop. We inspect the agreed mechanical and low-voltage systems. For motorhomes, suitable vehicle tests may also be included. We explain the findings and any further checks needed before you buy.

We agree the checks before the booking. The unit, seller permission and system access guide the work. We look at its condition, service records and visible repairs. We record what we could test and explain any need for deeper checks.
We look for heat, noise, movement, grease leaks, wear and poor brake operation. We can check springs and bushes where accessible. Bearings and brakes are not taken apart as a routine step. That work needs a separate agreement and seller permission. Unknown service history may call for a deeper mechanical check.
We can check the visible chassis, coupling, towing gear, wheels and tyres. Tyre age, wear and load rating matter as well as tread depth. Good tread does not prove a tyre is free of damage. We also record visible rust, damage and concerns about previous work.
Our qualified auto electrician can check accessible 12V wiring, lights, batteries, charging and trailer plugs. Some tests need the tow vehicle connected. Results show how the system worked during those checks. Further fault testing can be arranged with your approval.
We can look at battery type, solar gear, DC-DC chargers and visible wiring. We also consider monitors and charger suitability. Fitted parts do not prove the wiring was done well. Capacity tests, roof access, full load tests or parts removal need separate agreement. A routine check cannot prove how long a part will last.
Motorhome checks may cover visible leaks, fluids, cooling, tyres, brakes, suspension and charging. We can also check warning systems and available fault data. We consider codes alongside condition and service history. A fault that comes and goes may not appear during the visit.
Stains, swelling, soft areas, worn seals, odour or visible repairs may point to a concern. We can record those signs without destructive work. The check does not expose hidden wall or roof spaces. It is not a structural engineering report. Body or moisture concerns may need a caravan specialist.
We work independently of the seller. We explain major concerns, service needs and what is normal for the age of the unit. We also point out items that need a specialist check.
We can discuss what the findings may mean for repairs. A firm price may need parts checks, removal or more testing. The inspection report is not a quote for every possible fault.
The findings can help you decide whether to buy, seek more checks, negotiate or walk away. You remain responsible for official ownership, finance, registration, stolen-vehicle and written-off checks.
